The Candida Score is a clinical calculator used in the intensive care unit (ICU) setting to predict the likelihood of invasive candidiasis in critically ill patients. This scoring system is particularly useful in guiding antifungal treatment decisions in ICU patients. The score is calculated based on four variables: total parenteral nutrition, surgery, multifocal Candida colonization, and severe sepsis. Each variable is assigned a certain number of points, and a total score of 3 or more suggests a high probability of invasive candidiasis. The Candida Score is not applicable to patients outside of the ICU or those without risk factors for invasive candidiasis.
